Gadgets for stepping into the sea.
One of the best things about diving, besides being in another world, is
the amount of gear there is to use on every underwater. Every time I suit
up, I feel like Batman, and the more tools there are in my "utility
belt", the more fun it is.
If people can accessories their cars, I can accessories myself each time
I step into the sea. Here's a sample of gadgets one might find in a diver's
gear bag:
Dive Computer
Practically every diver has, or is lusting after, a
dive computer. Often seen as one of the most important pieces of kit to buy,
dive computers basically monitor depth, time spent underwater, and how much
of a surface interval you need to make between dives.
While there are many models out there, the Stinger from the Finnish company
Suunto is the most coveted. Sleek and silver in colour, the Stinger is a
full dive computer in the form of a watch. It costs close to RM3000.
Prices for dive computers range from RM1000 and above depending on brand,
model and features. Good dive computers can be purchased at any dive shop,
but you should do your homework thoroughly before selecting one.
